  • @kodiak1966 but you can still make a livin off it right?? cause i for sure want to work and work hard in the woods its were i am ment to be

  • @MrStryperfan Sure you could..that's what I did. That being said, its all contract work..0ne month here,3months there etc...full yime jobs in forestry are very very rare now-a-days.

  • @kodiak1966 could you have a career in forestry firefighting and in the off season do some other conversation work for the usfs??please respond

  • @theknifekid If your grades don't pick up,don't go into forestry, the forestry technician program is not an easy course..And like I said, there are no jobs out there in forestry.Four month contracts here and there if your lucky. You are usually working with another technician while doing Road surveys, scaling, timber cruising, sample plots etc etc..Lots of data collection. Take a course in the mining field..that's where the future is ! Forestry is dead.

  • @kodiak1966 its really sad how the environment will never be a priority for the government, I really want to go to forestry school after high school it seems like the perfect fit, its to bad no ones really focused on forestry and the environment anymore, o and as a forest technician what types of duties do you do? how much responsibility do you have? im considering this also if my grades dont pick up :(

  • I'm a forest technician by trade, worked in the field for 7 yrs after graduating in 1988.Sadly,I had to look for another career due to the dying forest industry and all the cuts the NDP government had done at the MNR.I do not recomend this as a career move. Was fun while it lasted tho.
