The Original Diplomats (not to be confused with the rap group) consisted of Ervan Water, Sam Culley and Tom Price. All hailed from Salisbury, Maryland, the group got together in high school in a glee club. They started singing in local clubs. With two others members, Timothy Wilson and William Collier, they were signed as Tiny Tim & The Hits (with Timothy Wilson as the frontman) on Roulette Records and cut two songs, 'Wedding Bells' and ' Doll Baby'. Saxaphone player Frank Culley (who recorded with Atlantic Records in the late 40's) used his show business connection and recommended a gentleman named Dr. Gilcrest from Newark, NJ who helped get their foot in the door. The Diplomats later met Walley Roker who signed the group to his Arock label. 'Here's A Heart' was issued as a single in January 1964. Irv Waters sang lead on this particular cut. The Original Diplomats later signed with Art Talmadge's Musicor/ Dynamo later in New York in the late 60 and recorded a number of soul classics including, I'm So Glad I Found You' 'Accept Me' and 'In The Ghetto'. They did uncredited background work on labelmate Tony Drake's masterpiece recording of 'Let's Play House'. In 1972, the Original Diplomats became the Skull Snaps and signed on Lloyd Price's GSF label.
