I had to replace the color wheel in my Samsung DLP television. It was pretty easy to do and I shot video of the proceedure in the event others wanted to see how it is done.

  • This video worked fine for me....except now that I have everything all back together, the tv won't come on....it tries, ........blinking red lights... and tries, but then just shuts off... Any ideas what I did wrong? Thanks.

  • @MrPhord The blinking is a code telling you what is wrong. If you look in the manual it should tell you what the bink pattern actually means.

  • My grand pop samsung went blank the other day he said the tv would come on for two min then turn off but could still hear the sound. The service tech said it needs a color wheel and lamp. When the color wheel goes bad does it not make a weird sound. Should I just try and replace the lamp first?

  • @jcmence1488 Up to you if you do them at the same time or try and do one before the other. The lamp is an easy replacement to do (they both are really).

  • Thanks for making this video. It worked like a charm.

  • @CooperBauer - ebay or amazon

  • @KC31965 - next could be- light engine part. but 1st clean check the fans

  • I first replaced the bulb. It worked fine for about 20 minutes, then back to green and blue. Then replaced color wheel and TV worked fine for about 20 minutes, then back to green and blue. Any other advice would be appreciated.

  • Trying to determine if I have a color wheel, Ballast or some other issue. I removed my color wheel. It looked a lot better than the one in this video, but it did not spin as well. My lamp lights up. If I plug in my ps2 into the AV3 I can see it, and I plugged my laptop in via the VGA port. I had my PS3 in via HDMI and it was awesome for about 20 minutes, and then the color went out, things went nutty to noisy and shut down. I have a few videos posted on my you tube account.

  • @MrPhord

does anyone has an idea to buy a color Whell ?? and where ..

    Thanks a lot

  • my mom's tv is a similar tv like yours but its a 72in. tv and when it turns on its just a black screen, theres no picture or sound so the lamp indicator just flashes green on the bottom right side of the tv by the standby and timer button, do you think it might be the lamp, or does the color wheel might be a problem as well and what does the lamp code mean, I seen a sticker on the back of tv any suggestions you have would be helpful since she doesn't want to spend too much money too repair it.

  • First of all to anyone claiming this video does not work....You either are not following simple directions correctly OR the issue with your television IS NOT the color wheel. I had a long time television repairman tell me the issue with my Samsung HLP5063 was the color wheel. After spending a reasonable $105 online plus shipping for a replacement color wheel for this TV I followed the exact directions in this video and my television now works exactly as it did the day it was purchased new.
