BUFFY THE FREESTYLE DOG VISITS HER FIRST NURSING HOME. After mom had a stroke, and then picked up pnemonia while at the hospital, she ended up at Rowlett Rehab for 3 weeks to learn to walk again, paid for by Medicare. What is really cool about this place is that they allow friends and relatives to bring the family dog by for a visit... it helps reduce their stress and the facility claims to have a 90 percent recovery rate among short term patients like my mom. So, this is Buffy's experience watching everyone else dine. She sat on the peripheral just outside the "boundry" which designates the dining area to comply with city code. It was murder for her though having to smell all that good food! She was soooo quiet. She sat the entire time right next to mom's wheelchair without even licking her lips or grumbling. When we first approached the area, she got many smiles from the residents. Most are women who were very eager to pet her. She obliged them after the dining area closed. Ladies with long finger nails... Buffy's back scratching dream come true. Buffy has had 7 years of continuous dog training including Freestyle. Obedience training is the key to her calm demeanor.
How endearing! I have a Mom that too has had a stroke. I just took her home two days ago, she was in for six Months, it was a long long process! I'm so happy for you both and your little doggy ehehe. I hope all is well!
