I bought like 20 of these fans 10 of each size and they are AMAZING!!!!
Loud yes but with some fan controller they are totally usable. Give them 5vDC and they are a whisper and still move a high amount of airflow.

i have this fan hooked up to a am2 athlon dual core 64bit 6000+ and WOW the stock fan kept it around 33 degrees and with this beaut its never above 25 yea lil loud but hey if its gunna prolong the life of my cpu a lil i dont care if it was as loud as a jumbo lol

I love this fan, but I have to say 56db IS loud (depending on your environment). My PC is in the bedroom and runs 24/7 while having heavy loads rendering - this is IMHO loud as hell.
I was told the fan made no difference by a well-known MB manufacturer - B U L L $ # ! #, this fan keeps my pc fine while stressed, stock fan will NOT keep it cool under pressure.

56 db is by no means loud. That's the sound of a normal conversation. I don't think talking to people will make you go deaf. Bit of over hype imo
