Holy Invasion of Privacy, Badman! What Did I Do to Deserve This? is not only a mouthful to say, but also a downloadable exclusive title for the Sony PSP.

Just hearing or saying the title name, you know this game is going to be one weird ass game. And guess what? It really is! But what else can you expect from a NIS game. You may know NIS for games like Disgaea, La Pucelle, Prinny: Can I really be a hero? or Phanthom Brave, that all share the same kind of quirkiness.

The game is very enjoyable and VERY challenging to play. It uses a mix of simulation, strategy and of course dungeon building. Actually this game does remind me a lot of the game "Dungeon Keeper" for the PC which basically has the same objective and somewhat the same game mechanics, only simplified.

Like in Dungeon Keeper, you are a god over an evil army and your goal is to eliminate all the heroes that enter your lair and keep them away from Badman. If he is captured and taken out of the dungeon, you lose the game.

Instead of having a portal where creatures emerge from, you have to breed them yourself. How do you do that? Well, it's all explained in the basic and advanced tutorials I recorded.

While the mechanics are actually pretty easy since you can only dig up blocks of soils, the game does have a pretty deep learning curve. It incorporates a large ecosystem that is required to breed new and stronger creatures. This system brings a lot of challenge and even extreme frustration.

You start out with Slimemosses, these creatures can suck nutrients from blocks of soil and nurture other blocks of soil. When a block is nurtured enough, you can dig up new creatures.
But since you can't control any of your creatures, it is very hard to send them to a certain block that you want to nurture, because often your creatures wander in different directions and therefor missing the opportunity to create stronger creatures. You have to be really careful on how you build out your dungeon in order to keep them in the same path.

To make it even harder, you have 2 kinds of resources, nutrients and mana. Nutrients are needed to create melee based creatures while mana is needed for creatures that use magic. The only problem with mana is, that it is only attainable by heroes that enter your dungeon.

Whenever they attack or die, blocks of soil turn into mana blocks. You can dig them up to create spirits who also can energize mana blocks, which can turn in new creatures when dug up.

These heroes are a challenge by themselves as with every raid, they grow stronger and stronger at a very fast rate. Don't be surprised if you get slaughtered by them after a few stages.

But does the game suffer from all these frustrations? No, it doesn't. Even though the game is very difficult and challenging at times, it is the right kind of challenge. The kind of challenge that keeps you motivated to improve yourself and become better.

This is probably the strongest point of the game and makes it very addicting. This combined with the old skool pixel graphics, cute music and off-beat humor makes the game quite appealing and definitely worth the download.

So if you are a hardcore gamer and/or like challenge, check it out on PSN. You won't regret it!

    owned by the slimemosses lol

I bet you were expecting a rune :P

  • haha yea, i did :P slimemosses are a bitch sometimes

  • Wow. Every time I play this game the heroes go directly for Badman. Why do they stay in your dungeons so long, wandering around randomly?

  • sometimes it's random. sometimes they seem to go directlt after badman, other time they walk passed him. but there are some heroes who have pattern, like only able to go left or right.

  • that's true but in this case they are all the same

  • its not just the number of slimosses as far as i know its the nutrients in them so maybe yours just had alot of nutrients

  • haha ok, never knew that. i was going to suggest to release a slimemosses at the very last moment when the omnome arrives at the block to make sure the slimemosses doesn't move.

thanks for watching my vids. i've got all the challenges online now so please check them out.

  • Grr, I found out the problem; I kept prodding it with the pickaxe to make sure it ate (the clue you get if you lose actually suggests you do this) but sure enough, after 3 slimemosses without hitting it with a pick, it pupated on the first try.

Thx for the help tho, your vids have been helpful for the challenges I was having trouble with.

  • Arg, no wonder I've been having so much trouble, I feed that thing like 10 slimemosses each time. Does it need a certain nutrient or HP level to grow? I'm on normal, not hard mode, and I have the US version if it matters....

Trying again, I swear some of these challenges hate me, mostly the slimemoss ones.

  • hmmm, that's weird. i checked it again a few times and after 3 slimemosses, it pupated...

i dunno, maybe your on a different setting?
