  • Only hyperventilate if signs of cerebral herniation, i.e. posturing, unequal pupils. Ventilate every 3 seconds.

  • It would be nice if these videos were accurate. If this were real you just effectively killed the kid by hyperventilating and vasocondricting the cerebrum. and also do more tube placement checks.

  • Ped Vent Management - NREMT states 12-20/min. Anything more or less is a critical fail.

  • I agree, we are taught 1 breath every 3 seconds normal, then 1 breath every 2 seconds for aggressive ventilations prior to intubation

  • yeah your right i'm looking at the 99-I national reg. the crit fails are on the sheet

  • WRONG! The rate is 12 to 20 both people in this vid are giving breaths every 2 seconds. It is no long hyper it is pre-oxygenate.

  • assure good chest rise and fall and give breaths at 1 every 3-5 sec and you will do fine. Hyperventilation even though its a kid can cause cerebral vasoconstriction.

  • mjesley is wrong....the peds rate is 20-30 times a minute, and you must hyperventilate the pt prior to intubation. both are critical failure criteria.

  • He is hyperventilating the patient... do not do that.. 10-12 times per min. everything else is good

  • hey, thanks alot for posting this and the others. I have ,my national registry coming up and this is going to be a valuable study tool. Again, thanks.
