You are right in your weather mechanics. Look up a type of weather system called a "McFarland Signature". True McF Sigs have been known to bring hard freeze and snow/blizzard/ice storm conditions as far south as northern Mexico. We usually don't see true McF Sigs this far south. I checked with National Wx Service in Fort Worth - The last true McF Sig that North Texas saw was back in Feb 1996. On the date 2-4-96, the recorded overnight low was 8 degrees at DFW Airport. Yikes!

It used to be that North Texas didn't get the jet-stream dip...I mean, down to Texoma, maybe the Wichita Falls area...or maybe am I mistaken?

He was indeed sick. Over the past few weeks, cases of strep and flu have been prevalent throughout the entire North Texas region here. A few weeks ago, it was reported that a Dallas County-area private school had to take the entire week off so that the sick students could recover and so that building could be decontaminated. I hope Baron is feeling better, now.
