I think this is being done now because if you look at the area at Al haram in google earth u can see the shape on this expansion taking place in the proposed area ...I do not hate the idea because Islam is fasting growing alhamdulelah, there for more space is needed. Do you know how many people are injured as a result of the density in Al Haram during ramadan and hajj? Look how much Makkah has developed in the last 1600 years or even the last 100 years. So its time to make more room :)

@TheLordTortilla Actually a lot of the science that was brought to light in the recent 100 years was already mentioned in the quran 1400 years ago. If you like, there are many books about the quran and modern science that might interest you. The quran is very different than other religious scriptures...It will truly fascinate you if you give it a fair shot :p.. anyways, look up the quran and modern science. Speaking of the moon, the quran mentions what science didnt until very recently =)

Why hate this proposal? Every square inch of Mecca is holy. Won't it be better if masjid haram was more bigger because Islam is one of the fastest growing religions in the world?

How dare you deny the existence of God Who gave you life when you initially had no life. He will cause you to die and bring you to life again. Then you will return to His Presence
