In the absence of fruit, I have found that eating cooked, complex carbohydrate rich, whole foods much better for my health, fitness, energy level and stamina, than eating high fat food, either raw or cooked.

I eat mainly low fat raw vegan food and feel much healthier for it! When I can't obtain enough ripe sweet fruit to meet my calorific needs, then I opt for cooked carb's like rice, lentils, potatoes etc.

Check out my website to find out more about how my health recovery after I changed my diet.

  • I know it must be a difficult choice for you when going to cooked carbs? I find it certainly is one for me. I have to reconsider all of my choices first. One I canNOT digest lentils or any beans for that matter. I know the lentil is actually a seed/pulse & not a bean, but it sure digests like one for me! :/ I can digest Rice, or seemingly, I can digest most grains too. Do you think it reaks havoc though? I guess I don't eat cooked starches all that often ~ drowsy. Just steamed veggies.

I find it better to eat cooked carb's than unripe fruit, or high fat raw food. I guess if I run out of money then cooked carb's are not too bad, but I do feel amazing pretty much all the time if I can stay on the ripe fruit and salad greens. Plenty of greens, cooked or raw are great too. Cooked greens are better than no greens, they're also better than overloading your digestive system with raw 'heavy' greens. I don't eat lots of lentils and beans, just occasionally.

  • how do you prepare your potatoes? are they just boiled?

    thanks

When I eat complex carb's I usually eat them just plain. ie no salt, fat, spices, sauces - I feel best that way. The spuds in this video were baked. Other times I might boil or steam them. For a bike ride though, baked spuds are the most convenient. Ripe fruit is great too, although not at the same time!

  • @eatmoreraw hi!!! You eat only organic fruits?

  • @Spies152

Organic is better, but I don't focus on that. I find with fruit, the most important thing is that it needs to be ripe.

I also eat lots of greens (either raw salads or cooked veggies), and plant based whole food cooked carb's like rice, potatoes, lentils and beans.

Salt, fat and sugar are the three main ingredients used to make food addictive. If you determine to take these out of your diet then eventually plain food tastes better and you will naturally prefer the healthier options. Think of any addictive food and it will almost certainly contain at least one of these added ingredients.

I had a great bike ride thanks!

Me too. Fruit is the best, because calories eaten hardly take any of the body's resources to get those calories to the muscles. It's like being rocket propelled! Sometimes, I just can't get hold of the ripe fruit I want though, either due to unavailability or ridiculous prices. Through experimentation, I found that plain complex carb's keeps me going strong without bringing back my old health problems. Kind regards, Stuart

  • The information that you share is so helpful. You are a very cool guy. Thanks for this video!

Hi Magnus, Thanks for your comments. Yes I really like sweet potatoes. I don't consume salt, but I do understand that if training for many hours and drinking lots, then consuming salt to replace electrolytes can be beneficial or even essential. I did eat all the spuds and bananas as I went, so I wasn't that concerned. I did have plenty of energy, although my quads and glutes were rather pumped and I needed a good rest at the end. Looking forward to my next trip! :-)
