Is there a possibility that the reason there's no proof is because the bodies are underwater, or have been eaten by the snakes, and people who witnessed it are the reason why it's rumored

I'm inclined to believe that Mincaye's village has lost children to the anaconda. But if End of the Spear is any indication, it was Mincaye's fault. He drove off all the food to starve out polio victims from a rival tribe.
