just installed a 3in qtp electronic exhaust cutout valve on my redtop sr'd 240

spliced it into my stock exhaust system.. it goes from the turbo to a 3in turbo elbow, 3in downpipe, 3in exhaust cutout valve, then stock cat and stock piping and muffler

i can pretty much run stock exhaust.. nice, quiet sleeper mode.. then at the flip of a switch run open downpipe madness

  • hey do more videos about the stock exhaust is cause i get puled over way too much in my 240 with the sr20det so i wanted to make it quite

  • @hector1130 well if you want to make your car quiet and still be able to have a free flowing setup when you need, then running a cutout valve setup is the way to go.

in terms of putting up more videos, i just actually just finished welding my cutout valve system with stock exhaust.. except this time around i have it hooked up to my rb25det ;p. so it'll still give you an idea of what it'll sound like with a stock exhaust/cutout but it might sound just a tiny bit different.. stay tuned

  • i have this same system just got all the neccesary parts have to install it on my 180sx still. Just wondering where did u put the switch and what did u use for a power source

  • what i did was run the wires up into the transmission tunnel to where the shifter is and i put the switch near the ashtray thing.. i spliced into the power and ground wires for the lighter because it gets constant power in "acc" as well as "on."

  • That is very interesting!

Thanks for sharing, i was thinking about doing the same with mine.

I had to take the HKS HiPower out, cause of the police..

Where did you get this? and how is working for you so far? also if you can get any video when the car is running that would be awesome.

  • it has to be one of the best power for your buck mod.. it works extremely well. so far i havent had any problems.. no signs of motor locking up that seems to be a prob on other valves and i can feel the difference when driving it.. your car looks sounds and drives stock when it is closed, but it is an animal when it is open.. the car pulls noticeably harder and i have a hard time not spinning tires.. someone with a sr20 setup tested it on a dyno and said he gained 40hp just by opening the valve

  • Nice!!

  • I'm getting a granny muffler welded on my car right now and ordering one of these pretty soon. Perfect way to switch from stock eclipse "gs" to the modded turbocharged engine sleeping under the hood.

  • just get a Varex muffler and be done with it... doesn't hang low and want to rip off your exhaust system every speed bump... so you can dump it even more... from the looks of it you could do with a few inches of dumpage! :P

  • @hector1130 i going to subscribe =]

  • ok i was thinking of something similar, when putting up the shift boot does the wire come in contact with anything? i was thinking of drilling a hole but that way is easier, and i was thinking of doing the mirror adjuster's but the lighter makes more sense

  • Uh... I would've/would/am Gut the cat. Because with or without the cut out, your going to be running rich. Running rich CLOGS your cat. So gut it. Your car will hardly get any louder with the stock exhaust.
