START of Tutorial:

NOTE: This video is rendered using the settings I tell you in this tutorial.

1. Open up Sony Vegas Pro 8c or 9. (I have Sony Vegas Pro 9, so some things might look different)

2. Open up the final video you want to upload.

3. Go to File } Properties } Click the folder icon and select the video you are going to upload. The properties of the video should be nearly identical to the one you are going to upload. Hit apply and then ok. (You are going to do this step for all videos that have different settings)

4. Now go to File } Render As } Select Sony AVC } AVC 1440x1080-60i

5. You now see .m2ts as the file type. Now name anything you want to video to be named and click save. The video should start rendering.

6. Once its finished rendering, you are ready to upload the video.

IMPORTANT NOTE: The video might look bad on your computer, if you started off with a non-HD resolution video. However, somehow when you upload it the quality gets fixed. You need a special program to play the M2TS file, such as VLC media player which can be downloaded here: http://www.videolan.org/vlc/

  • wow do u know how big my 15 second clip is?!?! 2.26 gigabyte omfg that would take me ages to upload it to youtube....

  • what if i recorded a game in 720p, does this still work?

  • @daxster25 I did research, if your rendering same way, your wasting your time.

  • @ZaCkOX900

youtube converts to mp4, which is what he renderd as, before calling him an idiot learn to do some research.

  • Well thank you. This video did alot for me. Subscribed! :) (PS: Maybe you could teach me some other things with Sony Vegas 9....such as adding intros, text, stuff like that)

  • It wont let me upload that file to youtube it sais it FAILED.

  • My computer wont let me view it now.

  • Idiot, youtube converts your file. I found better and smaller in a few tries. You suffer this uploading time and rendering time. Good luck finding it out. I'll give you a hint, it was one of the first to use when Sony Vegas Pro is installed. Just custom it to quality.

  • lol it took a minute to render a 10 sec. video xD

  • Best quality on YouTube? Nope, seen much better. My monitor is 1920 x 1080 and I watched this video in full HD 1080p full-screen, it's easy so see that the quality is messy. I've been hunting the Perfect settings for like 2 years now and still haven't found them for Sony Vegas. However, I've seen perfect sharpness in one video here on YouTube, you must watch in 480p and expanded (larger) window. (not my video).

    test HD sharpness on Camtasia 852 x 480 size 15 MB1411kbps KMP
