WWF's Stephan Singer on nukes

Director of the Global Energy Policy for
WWF International, based in WWF European Policy Office
in Brussels since 2008. The programme is in charge of a
global response by WWF on issues of coal and other fossil
fuels, carbon markets, transport policies, renewable and
energy efficiency policies in particular. He holds several
honorary positions that include: member of the Board of
the Renewable Energy & the Energy Efficiency Partnership
(REEEP) and member of the Management Board of the
Renewables Grid Initiative (RGI). Previously, from 1999 to
2007, he was head of the European Climate and Energy
Policy Unit at WWF's European Policy Office in Brussels.
Prior to that, from 1993 to 1999, he was head of the
Climate Policy Unit at WWF based in Frankfurt, Germany.
He completed his Ph.D. on carbon cycling in Indian
agricultural soils in 1992. Between 1988-1992 he worked
for GTZ/German ministry of economic co-operation in
Hyderabad, working on soil fertility and carbon dynamics in
India's semiarid tropics. He was also in cooperation with
the World Bank on rural poverty alleviation. For a short
amount of time (1987/88) he was a journalist. From 1981
-- 1987 he studied biology, chemistry, and soil science at
the University of Hamburg. In 1987 he obtained a Masters degree in Soil Science with a focus on
the impact of acid rain on a beech forest in Northern Germany. Between 1982-1986 he was an
anti-nuclear and anti-acid rain grass roots activist.
