  • this special one was not recorded on multi track

only for a film about phantom band with one microphone !!!

  • erm, is this the same phantom band doing the rounds now? i guess not, it looks pretty dated, when is this from? what is the story here please?

oh, i ask because i love it! reminds me of miles davis and funkadelic and something i've never heard before!

    thanks for posting

  • this Phantom Band made 3 Albums starting recording in 1978/79 at Inner Space Studio nearby Cologne, Reebop Master drummer from Ghana and member of late CAN showed up a lot of times at that place. He joined the band at leased for 2 concert in Cologne Germany

then this film was made about the phantom band - rebop was there to make his own solo-project with members of the phantom band which unfortunately was never finished - but he joined this film recording

    Thank you for your post

  • Oh, maybe it's the distortion of the tape, but I'm loving this!!

  • Thanks for posting this, what an amazing song. Do you know if this song was ever recorded by Rebop and the Phantom band?

  • So great to see Rebop playing! So many great jams were had.... His life was cut too short.

He was such a joyous, inspiring spirit!

  • Oh, and also... Jaki Liebezeit proves here why he is known as one of the world's greatest drummers.

As he once famously commented to Malcolm Mooney - "Five colors make the ear blind". :-)

  • This is fantastic. And yes, I agree that the feedback squealing and distortion make it even better.

Shortly after Reebop was dismissed from Traffic in 1973, Steve Winwood went to a club at which the band was scheduled to perform and came upon Reebop setting up his congas.

He said, "Uh, Reebop, don't you remember? We fired you".

To which Reebop smiled broadly and replied, "Oh no! You don't have to pay me. I just like to play".

Now, that is a true musician.

    Reebop, God bless you.

  • i fuggin luv idd

  • Man that VHS distortion sounds awesome

  • hahahaha
