Richardson's 2012 State of the City message on ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT

Of all of the city council's goals, none is more closely followed by the community than our efforts in economic development. We host businesses with operations that span the globe. In fact, this past year Richardson was recognized by the Texas Legislature as the official international business capital of North Texas. We thank our representative Angie Chen Button for helping with that designation.

Our efforts are part of a joint endeavor with the chamber of commerce. We leverage our efforts to attract prospects and retain those who already call Richardson home. Last year at this time, we expanded our efforts with the creation of the Mayor's Office of International Business Development. It's designed to cast a wider web to attract global opportunities. All of these efforts combined have helped us enjoy a very successful year.
