Alan Watts. Because it's the end of the world as far as i see it. Although he may not not be the band playing on the sinking ship, it might as well be.

  • After reading the comments on this thread I find it pathetic that not a person realizes that Alan Watts a British philosophers wrote one of the best articles ever published in Playboy magazine. His “Worlds Most Dangereous Book” was published in the December 1973 issue. It is available on the internet, Google it! This was required reading in my Philosophy of Religion class in a school in Utah in 1974.

  • These comments are kind of a microcosmic display of one of Alan Watt's perennial subjects of inquiry: the dogged infighting and exclusion that dogmatic thinking breeds. Thanks so much for the required reading material (I might not know much about Utah, but I'd guess such a class would have been a rare and revolutionary one!). I always read Playboy just for the articles anyways.

  • @big7bro7, That's the lesson for Christians- what is the intense pain of living, the fear of dying, in the face of eternity? It is a parallel to the struggle of every living Christian to live a life that is difficult sometimes, in service to God, because this life is not forever. Jesus was the example.

  • @at7000 but christians dont use statistics, well at least the ones I know. Everyone is there own person and should not be judged by a statistic. Statistics=Prejudism,Racism, and Stereotypes. No, one is the same as the other in anyway. Dont bring numbers to a poetry slam.

  • @doctrwilson but is it really a sacrifice if he knew he was gonna be resurrected beforehand? I'm sure it hurt super bad, but what's some intense pain under the scope of eternity?

  • @doctrwilson follow the holy book for what it really is and what it was truly meant for. The teachings of Jesus have been discarded, manipulated, and propagandized many, many times. Fortunately on the other hand they are still followed by some, even many and even if there are less virtuous Christians, the climax of the Bible is the resurrection which proved that ultimate love (his sacrifice and forgiveness) is more powerful than ultimate evil (torturing and killing an innocent man, the son ofGod

  • @at7000 What you say about Jesus is correct. Nothing that you say of Christians is not entirely false, but in steadfast honesty I will say that it is not entirely true either. It is horrible how many times your statements have been correct and continue to come abut in many terrible forms, as a Catholic I will not deny the transgressions which my Church and members of my Church have committed throughout the millenniums. But I will also recognize that there are Christians that

& What does the Quran say about the 400+ billions of years of history of this planet? & The gap between the reign of dinosaurs & the beginning of man? Certainly there must be something brief & clearly worded part about that right? What about the infinity of space? Or how about the evils in the world, that religions indeed fail to obliterate using their method of force, contradicting the peaceful notion of any religion & proves them to be just another ideologic war machine right?

  • @vidarmoose

Also, if the Qurans mentioning of past scientific breakthroughs was somehow true, then the Qurans mention & justification of heinous crimes, inequality & obscured morality that has been proven the wrongful path since it's creation when it comes to creating a peaceful world & has just served to justify hate would also be proof that it is indeed the simple work of men & not the words of a god who truly would have, as mentioned, probably grasped the consequences of these words.
