This is the heartwarming story of Will, Carl, and Sarah, the winners of the Shark House Raffle at Rebuilding Together Peninsula's Dreams Happen Fundraiser. They bought their raffle tickets on the day of the raffle - June 6, 2009 - which also would have been their parents 11-year wedding anniversary. The children lost their father to a 3-year battle with cancer just a week prior to the raffle.

Inspired by hockey mania and created with the support of the Sharks Foundation, Winges Architects and Hooper Construction & Remodeling created Shark House to be raffled at Dreams Happen, an event benefiting Rebuilding Together Peninsula. The two-story structure features an ice rink play-surface on the ground floor and a second story locker room. It has a mock Zamboni control panel, real Sharks team souvenirs, climbing apparatus, and most notably, a spectacular fiberglass shark head with dorsal fin and tail.

Shark House was one of fifteen custom designed playhouses created for auction at Dreams Happen, a biennial fundraising event at the Stanford Shopping Center benefiting Rebuilding Together Peninsula (RTP). Each playhouse has a unique theme created by a different architect and building team but only one is raffled.

Rebuilding Together Peninsula builds volunteer partnerships to rehabilitate homes and community facilities for low-income people—elderly, disabled and families--so they can live in warmth, safety and independence. Serving all of San Mateo and northern Santa Clara County, RTP is the largest organization on the Peninsula dedicated to preserving affordable housing and revitalizing communities. Each year, RTP works with thousands of volunteers to provide free home and roof repair services. In its 20-year history, RTP has restored over 1200 homes and cherished facilities, enlisting the help of over 72,000 volunteers with an estimated reconstruction value of $23,000,000.
