@dejffjed In a way you can sey they brought themselves their mysery in order to become heroes and help us in Europe. I believe the war would have last longer if the US army hadn't taken the action - all credit to them! But we must not forget the true cause of Hitler's empire end was his greed for power. Btw Europeans were in deepest shit (Frenchmen, Poles, Czechs). So they deserve special recognition (plus Russians who stopped Krauts in Moscow and turned the course of war around).

The war in Europe was none of US business. They enlisted because they felt their cowboy pride was damaged by japanese attack on Pearl Harbor many are still suspicious about. So many, many young men who has never been to Europe decided to go "kick ass" of someone whose name was Hitler (as they were told). I reckon huge part of those young soldiers couldn't find Germany on map if asked. After the war, the great time of heroism came. The States made some profit, the economics started to rise.

Band of Brothers is a great hommage to all the brave men sent abroad form the US risking and losing their lives to liberate Europe. My country is in debt forever for 66 years of freedom until this day.
