I made this after spending well over 5 hours trying to get Blender to import / export nif files for use with oblivion and finding it came down to two easy steps... It was hard enough to find out which version of python worked with blender (no easy to find info on the site). If you don't trust my links feel free to google the files yourself just make sure you use the exact same versions!!!

Blender: http://download.blender.org/release/Blender2.49b/blender-2.49b-windows.exe

Python: http://www.python.org/ftp/python/2.6.4/python-2.6.4.msi

PyFFI http://sourceforge.net/projects/pyffi/files/pyffi/2.1.4/PyFFI-2.1.4.win32.exe...

NIF Scripts: http://sourceforge.net/projects/niftools/files/blender_nif_scripts/2.5.x/2.5....

  • i downloaded everything from the links provided but blender keeps running 2.6.2 i only downloaded 2.6.4 how can i change this i still cant get the .nif import/export

  • @quailde250 Try uninstalling and trying again.

  • can you explain why you cant just use the updated versions??

  • @fanng326 Only certain versions of Python will work and I'm not 100% sure about compatibility in new versions of the other software. It should work with newer versions of Blender but I can confirm the versions I listed work.

  • Feel free to find your own links if you don't trust mine :) + if past experiance is anythign to go by they will be dead soon; just make sure the versions match up.

  • Hello it says that it has downloaded the 32 bit version of python 2.6.4 I run a 64 bit does it make a diff?

  • @DarksiderDarmoset how are you turnig it into a nif. i have fallout3 and im using blender 2.6 and 2.49b and i cant get them to export to nif plus i have 3 dif type of python scripts.

  • Neither my NiFScope or Blender will import the Skyrim nif files, but if I make an object, export it as NIF, and re-import it in either program, it works perfectly. Why is this? o.e

  • As I was installing one of those things, it crashed my computer! Scariest thing in my whole life! :( Maybe I should just get a newer version of one of those...
