Wrong guys: Ignace has nothing to do with Don Camillo.
This movie is a pre WW2 movie (whereas the Don Camillo series started in the mid 50's). Fernandel was very much in demand from the French army (like George Formby in the UK) to keep spirits up (that was before the German invasion of France).
Fernandel did willingly play this role as he was very popular and considered very funny (in those days): an incon of laughter, serving the propaganda for the French soldiers, before their tragedy...

@chab13630 Je traduis pour les non francophones qui souhaitent réellement apprendre le Français correct: "Trop trop bon, unique! Que les comiques actuels se rhabillent." Le reste de la phrase est correct mis à part la casse des caractères. Si tu ne sais pas ce que "casse des caractères" veut dire, cherche sur le net.

Quel bonheur d'entendre ou de réentendre Fernandel, ce fût un sacré Monsieur. Cette année son fils est parti le rejoindre dans l'au-dela, hommages a eux deux.

During the 50s Fernandel was quite popular in México as a movie actor specially for the Don Camilo films, but as a singer( and he is good at it )almost nobody knew him .Thanks for your posting.

Don Camillo is a big classical! "Ignace" is one of his biggests hits, with "Félicie aussi". In this movie, he sings a lot of songs!
