Today, student loan interest rates doubled because the Republican caucus is too dysfunctional and chaotic to compromise.

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee released a new web video highlighting the impact of House Republicans' failure to prevent student loan interest rates from doubling, and how the dysfunction will hurt students and middle class families all over the country. "College students already have to worry about finding a job in this economy, but now thanks to the Republican controlled Congress, they also have to worry about paying more in student loan interest rates," said Emily Bittner of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee. "House Republicans should be working to make college more affordable and accessible, but instead they would rather stand with the wealthy and special interests. House Republicans should be ashamed that middle class families are paying the price for their dysfunction."
