Danish waterfinder finding water with a willowtwig. The signal is so strong that the twig breaks in three. After digging a hole on that location, we had to use two 6" pumps to keep up with the waterstream.
I've done this a number of time with gret success, but in the back of my mind I keep saying it is foolishness, but been doing it 60 or 70years. When I was designing and building chemicalcontainment I would use it to find leaking chemical pipes for repair and electrical lines so as not to dig through them. The neighborhood has me finding broken water mains of drainage pipes all the time. of course after I am through they explain to me that it isn't possible.....which I fully agree LOL.
I dare say your mother and uncles sincerely believed in dowsing but there is no accepted scientific rationale behind the concept and no scientific evidence that it is effective. It started probably in the 15th century, when there was almost no scientific knowledge and people also believed in witchcraft, alchemy, mermaids and dragons, so there was no scientific basis for its use. There is no need to be rude just because you don't like my comment.
@jomc20 common sense would also tell you not to write things off without knowing anything about them. I have done this myself, i was shown by my mother and both my uncles how to do this, with a stick and a piece of wire. Dont ask me how it works, but it does. Doesnt matter which century it is, they still use these techniques in the 3rd world to find water. Go have a beer and calm down dick head.
Rubbish! Doesn't your common sense tell you a bent twig isnt likely to point to water? Dowsing has never been proven to work, any more than witchcraft or alchemy. This is the 21st century, for Christ's sake!
