Guitarist Brings Young People Together
"Sing across the World" is a global music project launched in November 2007 by award winning songwriter, producer, & guitarist James Bryan, in partnership with World Vision. The project connects a group of Ontario high school music students from Laura Secord Secondary School with youth from a World Vision project in Dominican Republic, and with James' help, to create music together.
It was natural that James chose the award winning choir from his former high school Laura Secord in St Catherines, Ontario, to collaborate with a special group of World Vision Youth Ambassadors from the Dominican Republic who happen to have a music group called "4 in 1". Through the power of the internet, and with James assisting as a songwriter/producer, the two groups met online in November, and over several sessions the participants all contributed to creating a song together.
Music Crossing Borders
On June 4th, 2008, students from a St. Catharines, Ont., high school joined voices with James Bryan in a musical performance that transcends all borders.
It was natural that Bryan chose the choir from Laura Secord Secondary School, to collaborate with 4 in 1 from The Dominican, Besides being Bryan's former high school, Laura Secord also has an outstanding music program and an award-winning music teacher, Mr. Dave Sisler. Last November, and with Bryan assisting as songwriter/producer, the two groups met online to write a song together.
Two months later, Bryan recorded the Laura Secord students' voices, then travelled to the Dominican Republic to meet with 4 in 1. He delivered recording equipment donated by Yamaha, Long & McQuade, Sennheiser, and Gibson to the World Vision offices and recorded the boys' part of the song. Bryan spent time teaching the boys how to use the equipment to initiate their own music program through World Vision in the Dominican Republic.
"Sing Across the World" is the result of a life-long goal of mine: to bring young people together through music to affect positive change in the world," says Bryan.
