  • omg i got cuaght in one! At first i thought i was jumping the waves in pinsacola and then i could barely c the beach. i swam sideways and when i was close life guard come in and helped me.Though he was yellling at me! IM like dude i almost died cut me some slack! But then im like I AM ALIVE SO WHATEVER THANK GOD!!!!!

  • I took the full weight of a breaking wave, and ate the beach. I was probably up to my ears in solid sand. The weight on my back was tremendous. I never thought I'd witness something so painful in my life. I didn't think I'd come out a live.

Just goes to show you how powerful the ocean is, and shouldn't be taken lightly. I was feet away from the shore and was put through the agony of my life.

  • So what causes a rip-current? The tide going out and passing through shallow gaps in underwater sand bars, causing a strong current in what appears to be a random location?

  • I got swept out by a riptide when i was 10 on a beach with no lifegaurds, fortunately my dad is a former lifegaurd

  • RIP DJ ARA <////3

  • @SnortingSkittles

Yeah, they're only dangerous if you don;t know what to do. Lifeguards and surfers often do use the rip currents to get to victims/ further out quicker.

  • At least I got the pretty one.

  • if you let a rip take you out, how far are you taken out to sea?

  • i got caught in one everyone was freaking out but me cuz i was annoyed that i got salt water in my eyes i had no clue what was going on lol

  • My 6 year old daughter has been in a riptide before. She had to stay at the hospital for 6 days and 5 nights. It was horrible!

  • @jaruel37 Gonna have to call shannigans. someone doesn't die from a rip current because rip currents pull them out to sea, because rip currents do not pull people out to sea. They only pull you a short distance before they stop pulling at all

  • @1yo2many No, that doesn't even make sense. People die from rip currents because they die from drowning because they exhaust themselves from trying to swim against the current.
