We are using the software reacTIVision for sensoring the different objects. The software comes with symbols known as Fiducials which you attach too your objects and that are read by a webcam that are placed inside the table. Every software we used are available on both Windows and Mac OS. If you go to our webpage that is stated under more information you can see what we used and download the rapport on how we built it.
