  • How I wish I could go back to 1939 and grab her and take her away from all the craziness. She might still be with us now and still singing.

The most beautiful voice of the century.

  • What a voice. I'm in tears. Just incredible.

  • great performance... I was actually searching for louis armstrong singing this. Was the subject too delicate for him? sad, if this is the case...

  • one of the greatest vocals performances of all time.

  • thank you baby gumm...for all youʻve givinʻ us!!! you great & powerfull force of nature...a true wonder of the world...& all in a 4ʻ 11" vessel..full of passion full of joy full of sorrow...thank you for your honest expression...you moved us all...

  • @hirchik--Anybody who criticizes Garland for singing this is an idiot. Two WHITES--Kern and Hammerstein II--created the musical "Showboat" and composed the music, including "Ol' Man River." The song is indeed about life's struggles, and Garland was perfect for this song.

  • @rds020790 you are correct i saw that too.she was actually singing about her Own life in those lines. I gets weary and sick of trying I'm tired of living and scard of dying..notice the expression on her face for half a second. another part where she sings "bodies all aching annnnnnnnd wrecked with pain" I love the way she holds the word annnnnnnnnd. check out Judy performing old man river in the white gown on her show.1964. that line scared of dying she looks up at the sky and belts it out hard.

  • amazing!!!!! wow!!!!

  • @grumpyotter dear grumpyotter, But would she still have been Judy?

    Sincerely,

  • @millers3888 Oh, me too, me too! I would have ran up to the foot of the stage and cried "Judy, we Love You!!" and believe me, not many people in this would bring that out in me.

  • good god I am just seeing this for the first time..Unbelievable. You just want to sit at her feet and listen.... and then put your arms around her and take her home to protect her...what emotion, what a voice.
