  • The debate over the music doesn't interest me, what does is the fact that the images I am seeing: they combine to be the most beautiful thing I have seen before in my life. And as I lie awake with an anxiety filled insomnia at four in the morning, I can temporally forget myself, and once more remember that which drew me to love film, in a whole new way.

  • Thankyou for the post :)

  • like hundreds of video here on youtube, some Eno's fans keep putting Eno's music piece on..... which is quite annoying. i m a huge fan of Eno but that is stupid. AND Eno didn't write this piece of music for THIS film. i m sure he would be quite bothered by such works.

the original is silent. and Donald Sosin wrote a score for this later.

  • It's up at the Whitney Museum right now- second floor.

  • rather i could see the original with original soundtrack

  • I prefer watching this ccinematic orchestra to eno's soundscape. Their interpretation of wonderful film is richer.

  • @rcnotes

Im very grateful the maker of this came forward and brought this out. In my opinion he captured the profound feeling of strands film perfectly. A sort of unescapble tristesse...I am moved everytime i see this because it brings out what i believe is a core truth of human society.

Wether this is about Paul Strand or not is in my opinion irrelevant. They found each other in this feeling and with that the maker became co-author of the work...That is how i see it :)

  • Manhatta has been called the first experimental film. this movie was not made to entertain but to pull the viewer into the filmmakers vision.Paul Strand was a genius.

While Eno's music is nice it's inappropriate. Wouldn't it have been more ethical to ask the filmmaker if he wanted music accompaniment?

  • The music complements the video perfectly.

  • Amazin' vid...Makes my mind flashbackward to ancient times...helped by Eno sounds...
