No, Reed was on a raft and Sue was in a tube. Her tube floated away when her foot got stuck, so that's why Reed put her on his raft.

Ok. First you ball up when you go under so your feet does not get caught. second NEVER use rope in the river and especially tying it to your feet. Third watch a river safety video. This is why they scare you before you go down the river at outdoor companies is so you know the potential danger of the river if you are not careful.

The technical term is a strainer which is when a tree is submerged under water.

plants, trees, tree trunks, rocks and other stuff thats in the middle of the water. And you have to manuver around them so you don't hit them like the people where trying to do in the Rescue 911 show.
