My new and improved method for using compressor where you can dial in the file size of the exported file. No longer will you stare blankly at "Estimated File Size: unknown" You want a high quality 1080p file that's 400mb and not 3.4 gigs? You got it.
Since I've gotten a new iMac (and just juiced it up to 16GBs of RAM, I've been using alot of the new features my old computer didn't have - including Quicktime Player's AWESOME ability to do screen capture. So for the first time, you can see very clearly exactly what I'm doing. Plus, It's got Picture in Picture of yours truly.
I hope you enjoy! Please spread the world, and if you have any requests please please let me know. It's so much easier to make these videos with my new comp. I can crank them out.
Happy editing.

  • Hello - Im trying to get a video I edited thats ~12 mintues long into a HD file thats under 1Gb because I would like to upload to FB, i have uploaded it to youtube with an h.264 @5.96GB and continued to mess around in the export settings to get it lower but I cannot get it below ~2.4GB. Its shot in 720p @ 60fps, is there a good codec or settings I can use to keep it in full HD and get it under 1GB?

  • @TheKaeosm If you follow everything I explain in this video you should be able to do it. The most important thing is limiting the bit rate. I'd assume to somewhere around 3000-5000 Kbits/sec.

  • thx bro --- figz!

  • @aguard115 you're welcome!

  • @DiCasaFilm Did You Put The Video In 1080p With Compressor ?

  • @NewEraTrackz I'm sorry I don't understand what you mean.

  • Hi, I was wondering if you could tell me if this a typical scenario with compression using this method. I have just under 15 minutes of video which I have edited in Final Cut Pro. I shot with my 5D MKII in 1080 (30fps), and converted those files into ProRes422 for my edit. The video has no filters except for a fade in-out at beginning and end, and some small credits which I made in AE. My estimated time for compressing as of now is 7 hours to get this file under 2gb. Is this typical?

  • @DiCasaFilm Also When Im In Compressor And I Go To The Inspector Where It Says Video Encoder For The Selected Size i have 420 X 680 Do You Kno How I Can Change That?

  • @DiCasaFilm did u use compresser to export the video in 1080p or did u use final cut ?

  • Thanks for the tut! I was avoiding Compressor, and using Share > h.264 with Handbrake to compress my videos. I'm exporting my first reasonably-sized HD video now. Thanks!
