I think that the creators try to develop the love/hate relationship. they want that their relation becomes more dramatic.
It is understandable. Most of the couples of series who have a true romance have a love/hate tragic relationship.
I don't believe that zane and rikki will break up forever but just one moment.
I am sure that it is the truth.
it's an true information. Sadly, they really will break up in the next season.

@magikalme They actually are continuing it. Well, in a way. They're doing a spin-off series called Mako: Island of Secrets. If you Google it, you'll get more info.

I really do love this pairing. Rikki really did bring out the best in Zane, and vice versa. I haven't finished watching season 3 yet (So Sad It's The Last), but from what I can gather, Sophie is nothing compared to Rikki and Zane knows it. BTW, I wish they had continued the show. Even if they had to bring on 3 new girls, the fans would have continued watching it.
