This is day one of a very successful two-day road trip to the Duplainville vicinity with Justin (Trainmasterkreks). We drove out early Tuesday morning, railfanned until almost sunset, crashed at my apartment in Milwaukee, then railfanned sunup to sundown again on Wednesday, and I dropped him off back in Jefferson on my way back to my family's place in Stoughton.

No sooner had we arrived than we were greeted with...

Train #1-A: CN L510 local, 7:08 AM
IC 6202 (SD40-2)

We were kind of hoping 6202 wouldn't pull ahead over the Weyer Rd. crossing when it did, but they did and blocked our view of...

Train #2: CN NB manifest, 7:09 AM
CN 8??? (SD70M-2)
Unknown CN Draper Taper unit

Train #1-B: CN L510, 8:01 AM
Its Duplainville work complete, 6202 gets the light onto the main and highballs north over Highway 74 in Sussex. They will switch Ackerville before returning to Shops Yard at Fond du Lac.

Train #3: CN SB manifest, 8:51 AM
CN 2246 (ES44DC)
NS 8723 (C40-8)
CN 8005 (SD70M-2) mid-train DPU
IC 2709 (C44-9W) mid-train DPU

CN really seems to be taking to the practice of running very long trains with DPU locomotives about 2/3 of the way back. Waiting at the diamond for this to clear was...

Train #4: CP 198 EB intermodal, 9:03 AM
CP 8843 (ES44AC)
CP 9783 (AC4400CW)

The clatter of jointed rail is prominent in the soundtrack on this and the next few clips, as a MoW foreman had track and time on Main Track Two (south track, welded rail) and all trains were being sent down the still-jointed Main One.

Train #5: CP 298 EB manifest, 9:25 AM
CP 8719 (ES44AC)
CITX 2783 (SD40M-2)
CITX 3054 (SD40-2)

Middle unit 2783 is an ex-UP/SP SD45 remotored with a 16-645 to become the functional equivalent of an SD40-2.

Train #6-A: CP G67 local WB, 9:45 AM
CP 4407 (GP38-2)

Train #7: CP 282 EB manifest, 10:27 AM
SOO 6062 (SD60M)
CP 6034 (SD40-2)

A first-time catch of a Soo Line Phase I (three-window) SD60M as a lead unit for me! SOO only ordered five of these, 6058-6062. SD60Ms are also becoming scarce on railroads that used to have large fleets of them, such as BNSF (ex-BN) and UP.

Train #8: CN SB manifest, 10:43 AM
IC 2460 (C40-8W)
CN 8815 (SD70M-2)

Train #9: CN SB manifest, 12:03 PM
CN 5617 (SD70I)
CN 5799 (SD75I)

This second of two consecutive southbounds is seen at the Highway M crossing between Duplainville and Waukesha, with its fairly uncommon Safetran Type 1 electronic bell.

Train #10: CP 280 EB manifest, 12:20 PM
CP 9506 (AC4400CW)
CP 8553 (AC4400CW)

Train #11: UP LPA53 local WB, 1:37 PM
UP 369 (GP38-2)
UP 679 (GP38-2)

This local goes west on the Adams Subdivision on Tuesday and Saturday. Counterpart LPA52 goes east from Adams to Butler on Monday and Friday.

Train #6-B: CP G67 local EB, 2:51 PM
4407, an ex-Soo Line locomotive repainted sometime during the CP Rail era, is now on its return journey to Muskego Yard.

Train #12: CP 299 WB manifest, 2:53 PM
CP 8557 (AC4400CW)

Train #13: UP MSSPR EB manifest power, 4:05 PM
UP 2002 (SD70M) Olympic Torch Relay unit
UP 4334 (SD70M)
UP 4487 (SD70M)
UP 320 (GP38-2)
UP 716 (GP38-2)

The five units had cut off their train and were backing onto the fuel ramp at Butler Yard.

Train #14: UP Butler Yard switch job, 4:20 PM
UP 648 (GP38-2)
