This scene is completely crazy.
What is interesting in it for me is that the acme is not in the church which would have been quite conventional (even sadly moralistic) but in the mesmerizing sequence of street crossing that get this conventional moment in the deep heart of our cultural soil.
This is really a astounishingly graphic and epurated figure of "a song of two humans"
It should be the best scene I have ever seen.

sequence is sublime, especially when he
kneels weeping with his head in her lap.
