  • @sylohmure How are you conversant with communities in Kenya, friends, relatives, etc? So tell me more about FGM in Kenya.. What myths, misconceptions, religious, and tribal customs do communities who practice FGM in Kenya have?

  • @chaoscraig5v7o Yes I know there are places it is legal and sanitary. I can only speak of the situation in Kenya because that is what I am conversant with. I know girls that were forced and because it is illegal in Kenya there is nothing sanitary about it since it is done by quacks and not Doctors or at hospitals. Some girls actually loose their lives from excessive bleeding. Also as a healthcare professional i am aware of the recent discussions on risks versus benefits of MGM.

  • Police should intervene to save the poor girls. We had a similar horrible act last month in Uganda. East Africans need to help each other to stop berbaric acts like this, cattle rustling, child sacrifice, murders etc....we can do better as a region, we have many important things to do. My appeal is to promote formal education and engaging elders from such communities to stop the practice, it is possible that East Africa can liberate it's girl child.

  • @sylohmure I applaud your efforts to stop this collective madness. But did you know in Indonesia FGM is often done in a sterile hospital setting? Just like FGM, MGM is not with out its risks, death can be a complication even in a hospital when performed by "professionals". Over 100 baby boys in the US die from circumcision(1)

  • @almunjama really???!! you call it judging? this is not done in a hospital where there are sanitary conditions neither do the girls consent to the practice. Do you know how many girls get infected due to the unsanitary conditions?? Not to mention the fact that they are human beings with a right to decide. I am a Kenyan and I loath the practice to put it lightly. Culture can be maintained without infringing on Human rights!!! I am very cultured for your information but also not ignorant.

  • too much judging...i support communities in maintaining their cultures!!!!

  • Pamela Asigi: Merry Christmas. NTV needs to go into every Kenyan county and explain the impunity concept. Until now the belief is, impunity only defines “Uta do?” by powerful politicians. This clip shows, impunity is part and parcel of our cultural practices. Honestly, the “practitioners” of this primitive activity are culpable under Kenyan Law. Mostly we blame politicians, a cross-section of our society, for the evils in Kenya and yet the backward cultural practices and beliefs are the problem.
