World Apart is a song from the album The Rising by Bruce Springsteen. This song highlights the deep and tragic divisions in the world today, Worlds Apart, includes vocals by the Pakistani singers Asif Ali Khan and Group. Images of tenderness that two lovers experience, who at the same time stand worlds apart, shift to the larger world stage and a plea that those of us who are living might be able to make some connection with one another, so that the painful memories around loss of life do not serve to increase hatred and violence. In his words, May the living let us in, before the dead tear us apart. Rather than let the blood that has been shed in the past do this, he holds out hope for reconciliation: Well let blood build a bridge/ over mountains draped in stars/ Ill meet you on the ridge/ between these worlds apart.
The Rising is the 12th studio album by Bruce Springsteen, released in 2002. In addition to being Springsteen's first studio album in seven years, it was also his first with the E Street Band in 18 years. It is centered around Springsteen's reflections on the September 11, 2001 attacks.
Upon its release, The Rising was a critical and commercial success, and hailed as the triumphant return of "The Boss". It debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 chart, with first-week sales of over 520,000 copies. With this, Springsteen became the oldest person to achieve a first-week sales of over a half of a million in the U.S. For the year 2002, The Rising was one of only two albums to receive Rolling Stone's highest rating five stars the other being Beck's Sea Change
The Rising went on to become Springsteen's first #1 album on the U.S. pop albums chart since his 1995 Greatest Hits album and would go on to sell about 2,100,000 copies in the United States, making it Springsteen's best-selling album of new material since 1987's Tunnel of Love.
Asif Ali has surely emerged as the qaawali music's reigning prince. Since Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan death in 1997, Asif has participated in tribute concerts and recordings dedicated to the memory of his teacher, but has developed a style and presence all of his own. While remaining faithful to the sublime traditions of the devotional Sufi music known as qawwali, Asif is hugely popular and a powerful figure on the international stage. His music can be meditative and trance-inducing, before, at a turn, becoming thrilling and ecstatic. To hear his voice soaring above the call-and-response choruses, rhythmic hand claps, percussion and harmonium of his accompanying musicians is an inspiring experience.

Worlds Apart lyrics

I hold you in my arms, yeah that's when it starts
I seek faith in your kiss and comfort in your heart
I taste the seed upon your lips, lay my tongue upon your scars
But when I look into your eyes we stand worlds apart

Where the distant oceans sing and rise to the plain
In this dry and troubled country your beauty remains
Down from the mountain road where the highway rolls to dark
'Neath Allah's blessed rain we remain worlds apart

Sometimes the truth just ain't enough
Or is it too much in times like this
Let's throw the truth away we'll find it in this kiss
In your skin upon my skin in the beating of our hearts
May the living let us in before the dead tear us apart

We'll let blood build a bridge over mountains draped in stars
I'll meet you on the ridge between these worlds apart
We've got this moment now to live then it's all just dust and dark
Let's let love give what it gives
Let's let love give what it gives

  • Nice done Kashif

i like (the river) for him

  • It is a real great work Kashif, besides te tribute to the Boss, I loved the High Qaulity of the images and I agree totally with the text at 1:33: the problem is the way we look at the world thinking is all ours and that we can handle as we like.

The world is for the kids, the children, It's not easy to do, but some damaybe we'll find the ways like at 4:56 to change our minds: Will it be late?

However great pics of the boss he is still the one!

  • Amazing video. The placement of the pictures and the sound of the "Boss" is like fine wine. Gets better with age.
