Well if you dont like romance you really are watching the wrong series.

If you want robot battles go to Gurren Lagann, great fights and lots of people shouting like there no tomorrow (because in the anime thats quite a possibility)
I also recommend you learn alittle about the anime before you start watching it if you have such piky standards
