Was this blind justice?

Shortly after three eight-year-old boys were found mutilated and murdered in West Memphis, Arkansas, local newspapers stated the killers had been caught. The police assured the public that the three teenagers in custody were definitely responsible for these horrible crimes. Evidence?

The same police officers coerced an error-filled "confession" from Jessie Misskelley Jr., who is mentally handicapped. They subjected him to 12 hours of questioning without counsel or parental consent, audio-taping only two fragments totaling 46 minutes. Jessie recanted it that evening, but it was too late— Misskelley, Jason Baldwin and Damien Echols were all arrested on June 3, 1993, and convicted of murder in early 1994.

Although there was no physical evidence, murder weapon, motive, or connection to the victims, the prosecution pathetically resorted to presenting black hair and clothing, heavy metal t-shirts, and Stephen King novels as proof that the boys were sacrificed in a satanic cult ritual. Unfathomably, Echols was sentenced to death, Baldwin received life without parole, and Misskelley got life plus 40.

For over 14 years, The West Memphis Three have been imprisoned for crimes they didn't commit. Echols waits in solitary confinement for the lethal injection our tax dollars will pay for. They were all condemned by their poverty, incompetent defense, satanic panic and a rush to judgment. (From WM3.org)

@danixxxchin First Jews are evil... Look what they did to New York to get the USA to attack Islam. Your happy they are free? well who are the real killers I don't think it's the boy's step dads that was just to visious and they don't own knives like that used in the killings.

While Damien dumped a knife in his back water are which is a possible knife used.

Sad story but the boy's should have no confessed or braged about doing it.

@ContrastNY I agree, but because they dropped the ball in getting a solid conviction where there was plenty of physical evidence. Have you read the actual case evidence? Or did you merely choose to go off of the defense strategy of, "they are being convicted because they wear black clothes" theory and watch a couple of VERY slanted and so-called documentaries? Read exhibit "500" alone.

The killings of those boys may be related to the story of Abraham, Isaac, and God in Genesis (include circumcision/genital mutilation). If there is a connection, the killer (or killers) were either crazed Christians or anti-Christians mocking the religion. Read the story in Genesis. What do you think?

What an injustice these boys had to go through. Who will give them back the 20 years stolen from their lives? There was not only three child victims, but six children who were failed at the hands of the american justice system. They knew all along those boys were innocent. Shame on you all West Memphis!

I don't know whether or not the West Memphis Three committed the horrible acts that ended the lives of those three little boys. I do have my opinion after watching Paradise Lost, but you have to go by the evidence and the truth of the matter is that the Damien, Jason, and Jesse should have been cleared as suspects before they were even suspects. Someone's beliefs don't make them a murderer. I am glad the West Memphis Three are free.
