  • Fantastic, the entire work, especially the lyrics. Thats why Mr. Winchester is an authentic part of this country and its music!

  • I sang this song a cappella for my friend Sean's wake when he died after a motorcycle accident. I sang it slower, like Jesse's original version. I said, "I'm not a Christian, but I steal their music sometimes. Think of the Mighty Hand as the love between friends." The big roughy toughy guys cried. One guy said he refused to accept Sean's death til he heard me sing this. Love each other. Walk in Peace.

  • What a talent, what a voice. And what a clip.

And on other of his creations, what a songwriter as well.

Thanks so much for posting this.

  • I am looking for a memory. Brain vs Dodge Ram 2500 doesn't help much but what I think I remember is a song that may be titled "Too weak to forget" by Jesse Winchester. Maybe not, because I have been unable to find it under either heading. Would you help me?

  • @bawstonboy I am "living" with cancer myself for the 3rd time (if I was rid of it at all a year ago). These words are coming home and hard.

Good luck and God bless- whatever your idea.

  • Years ago I became a Conscientious Objector and followed the life of Jesse

At age 18 even hitchhiked from Boston to Montreal to see him play solo in a cafe.

Always loved his authenticity and passion.

These days my life is stricken with cancer and I occasionally go to this song on YouTube and it gives me inspiration and strength and a tear to my eye.

He was the real deal and still is.

  • Historical! And great singing too...BR

  • Listen to Mississippi You're On My Mind.He recorded it in Montreal shortly after he came here. He's pretty much a Montreal institution now, married a girl here, writes songs in French.

  • And a beautiful stage, it is! I also thought Emmylou was taller. Yet she is a giant in all other aspects!

  • good then ,better now

  • You never know you'll stumble upon on YouTube! This is a fabulous and touching glimpse into American music. What a gem!!!
