James Bond's Lotus self destructs so he has to resort to his girl of the moment's Citroen 2CV to make their escape (love what the music does when James sees the 2CV!), the 2CV used in the film actually had a 4 cylinder Citroen GS engine in it...

Great cars. The early versions had 425cc engines. I had two 2CV Bijous which could do 70mpg (English gallons) at 70 mph, albeit noisily, on leaded petrol. I had to de-lead the cylinder heads every 15,000 miles. :)

    The 1950s 2CVs had a 375cc engine!

    2CV engine 33 BHP (602cc, 2 cylinders), GS engine 60BHP (1220cc or 1299cc, 4 cylinders) so quite a bit more powerful!

I understand why they wanted Bond in a non-gadgetized vehicle in FYEO and this is a good car chase but I think using the Lotus on those tight, curvy roads would have been great!

This is I think the first movie I can remember watching. I was five years old watching this on TV with my dad and I remember this sequence so well and I remember so fondly asking; "Why's the man not crashed, yet Daddy?" to which he replied "Ah, he's James Bond, son, the heroes never stop." How right he was :)

This must be an ultra-rare example where the villains' cars slide down hills and crash into trees and *don't* immediately blow up.

Given the popularity of the Lotus in TSWLM, I was surprised they didn't have for fun with the one in this movie. I know the first one here gets blown up, but he's driving another one later they could have done something with.
