Nick Strutt died on 29th September. Besides being a lifelong friend to many people, he was also a fine musician and recording artist who performed with some of the best, and helped many others to become fine musicians. Additionally, it has to be said, he was a wilful, mischievous imp throughout his eventful life. He will be missed.

He was cremated on October 17th 2009 after a funeral service at St. John's Church in Wortley, near Leeds, at which his former musical colleagues Roger Knowles and Brian Golby performed a beautiful guitar duet, and later his relatives and friends proceeded to the old stomping ground, the Grove Inn folk club in the city, near Water Lane, for a wake, where they proceeded to enjoy the hospitality provided and to entertain each with impromptu musical performances for the remainder of the day. Many of those present had not seen each other for ten, twenty, or more years, and it was an opportunity to catch up on events, to reminisce about old times and, as the day wore on and the ale flowed, to engage in a little raucous and rowdy sing-a-long.

Here is Part One, a sample of some of the earlier lunchtime atmosphere. Part Two portrays a selection of the later stages of the enetrtainment.
