Project Universe 29 - The Expanding Universe

Edwin Hubble was the first to investigate the distribution of galaxies around us.

The distribution of galaxy super-clusters througout the universe is not evenly spread out but forms a stringy pattern that looks like a web. This may offer a clue to the large scale structure of the universe.

The recession of galaxies show the universe is expanding.

The Steady State theory competed with the Big Bang theory until the cosmic microwave background radiation was discovered in 1965.
