Probably one of the earliest examples of using a sound bridge in order to smoothen continuity between adjacent scenes. On the other hand one should know that in this version Chaplin's score is re-recorded (supervised by David Gill and Kevin Brownlow) - thus, for me, it's hard to tell about Chaplin's intentions...
