A short piece from BBC2's "The Culture Show" following the comedian Stewart Lee & the composer Richard Thomas as they work on the follow up to "Jerry Springer The Opera" in Germany.
This video diary documents the problems translating humour to German and touches briefly on the furore over the broadcast of their previous work

  • Yeah the cigarette made it.

  • @prodeoetpatria1691 ye mate maybe you just havent got the brain capacity to get his jokes

  • Do you write for the Express, prodeoetpatria?

  • what?

  • I really hate snobbish people who say things like "Well you clearly didn't 'get it' did you?!"

But mate, you CLEARLY didn't 'get it,' did you?

  • Sabine Boss is a bit off there, maybe it's more a thing for Nothern Germany but there are quite a few stand-ups who also travel through the clubs. I never thought that this was so unknown in Hannover. Or maybe just in the Schauspielhaus Hannover...Would have loved to see the Opera, though.
