A City Dweller's Guide to the Outdoors - a statement of the obvious.
In times of great uncertainty, obfuscation, and relative truths, a statement of the obvious might be comforting, even reassuring.
On July 9, 2011, I staged A city dweller's guide to the outdoors - a one-day, unannounced art installation at Riverfront Park, Columbia, SC
Along one stretch of the path, I placed 63 statements of the obvious naming such things as 12 rocks as rock, a small rock, a large rock, a lonely rock, 12 trees as tree, four groups of trees as a lot of trees, but not yet a forest, sky and earth with arrows, bench, leaf, stick, well you get the idea
Would anyone take notice? How would people react? Can we still be amused by simplicity? Here is your answer...
