My Free Studio MP3 of this Tune: http://www.ilike.com/artist/Don+DePaola/track/Cancun+Breeze~

I just received my amazing G&L S-500 from Guitar Adoptions recently. The body is all Mahogany and this guitar is an absolute dream! Please do yourself a favor, if youre interested in purchasing a G&L, give Dave a call from Guitar Adoptions, his expertise and customer service is off the charts!

Im jamming over a Band in the Pocket CD, playing clean at first, and then I break out my new toy, a Fulltone OCD pedal. I just got it tonight and Im BLOWN AWAY with it. My playing doesnt do it much justice on this tune but I have plenty more on the way that should exploit the amazing qualities of this awesome Overdrive pedal.

My amp is a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe and Im using some delay with a BOSS ME-50.

Thanks so much for watching, Peace, Don~

  • Hi Don,

    I really love your music!

If you could only have one G&L legacy or S-500 which one would you choose? Which body wood.

My only e-guitar is a G&L legacy and I've been thinking about maybe getting an S-500 but I'm not sure.

    John

  • @jwebsmall

Thanks for the kind words John. If I had to choose it would be this exact guitar, the mahogany body made it so smooth. I unfortunately sold it because the neck profile was a bit big for me. Also, the Legacy Specials are really such underrated guitars, they are tremendous my friend.

    Thanks again, Peace, Don~

  • Don- Whatever you are doing in this video, hate to say, sounds better than the orig I downloaded from your site. Different rig maybe? Mic'd amp? I have a '93 S-500 that had developed a twist in the neck over the years so it sat for 5 years til I found a guy I could trust to fix it. (Didnt know about GA) Now its back on track as the best guitar I ever placed my hands on. Which pickups came with that mahogany s-500 your playing? Love that tone. She's a beauty

  • You have great ears my friend!

This video is the guitar my fender amp, and my camcorder mic. The studio version is me going straight into my 8 track and using the amp simulator effects that came with my Boss 8 track. I guess thats why a lot of my studio stuff tends to sound way too processed. This guitar is absolutely killer, stock G&L pups. Unfortunately, I had to sell her; the neck was identical to Fenders 62 Reissue which is way too wide for me.

    Thanks for commenting, Peace,

    Don~

  • I really want to buy G&L S500 as my first electric guitar ... I know it's around $1500 new, but ... do you have any suggestions where I could get it for less? Thank You!

  • Guitar Adoptions is an awesome place to get great service and awesome advise.

While I do not quote G&L prices, you will be very happy speaking with Dave from GA.

Their link is on my description, thanks, Don~

  • @swing8th I looked it up. It's a sort of missile. L-2000 is also a sort of supersonic commercial jet. Leo had a thing for planes and missiles.

  • does anyone know what s-500 stands for?

  • Yes, thats an awesome question. Absolutely, the OCD has a ton of dynamic presents. I still have yet to experiment with the OCD as much as I would like to but for the money, its a wonderful way your dads overdrive tones will benefit big time. You can go from ACDC to Eric Clapton in seconds with the volume pedal or arranging the knobs of course.

    Thanks,

    Don~

  • Zoom for an example makes sound processors that bypass many pedals and offers many amp sounds. This may be a cheap way to go. There are other name brands such as Vox that offer simmilar.. Hope this helps.
