We use to shop Hudsons all the time, especially every Christmas.

Hudson's "Pantry Shop" was a new idea and it was located outside of the main J.L. Hudson's store in the center of mall. The Pantry Shop was on the main level by a restaurant - it took over from some small shop (forget the name of the former shop and restaurant). The idea was to promote foods, gourmet foods from around the world; they also had an assortment of plants.

The J.L. Hudson Company built the original shopping malls in Detroit. As a kid in the 70's going to the downtown store was a treat. It was THE store...back in the days of the old boulevard stores (like grand hotels, just for shopping). I always wondered how did the person who raised the flag way on the top of the building every day get up there... lol.
