Obomba and Al Gorey are stupid

WHILE I too, also think that the downside of ughhh........being used within the content of his message.......truly rehashing a clearer opportunity while not understanding HOW his position in the Whitehouse is doing anything other than "RE-Arranging" the office for a perceivable BETTER Future for their children./THE PRONOUN not meant to be RACIST.

As of May 2009 CO2 is at 390 ppm.

Go Obama

- Chickens and pigs spend their lives in the entirely artificial conditions of huge factory farms, with no access to air or sunshine and no freedom of movement. Their deaths are bloody and barbaric.

Ah, yes I did mean nanometres, but that's wrong. My bad, I meant micrometres -- I totally cede your correction. Honest mistake.
However, the fact that a certain band is responsible for 90% of CO2 warming (not 90% of greenhouse warming) means little if CO2 has such small potential to warm anyway. In fact my point was that CO2 warming takes place within a thin band, so I see we're in agreement.
Haven't read that article, I'll check it out (dude, kinda old though).

Further to the point, what is refered to as "the strong 15 micrometer band" is responsible for greater than 90% of CO2 caused warming.
See "SCIENCE" Volume 213 Number 4511 page 957 - 966 published 28 August 1981.

hayesism correct me if I am wrong, but when you say "0.6 nm" you mean 0.6 nanometers? I ask because that is in the X-ray range. In other words completely besides the point for the issue at hand. The relevant wave lengths with respect to the earths climate are between 0.1 and 100 micrometers. That is UV, visible, & Infra-red light. You seem to be confused. The point of talking about black bodies is that it is typical to show black body curves on plots of Radiance versus wavelength.

I did talk of trace gases in terms of 'dry' air, and you disparaged me for it.
Your first paragraph referred to positive feedback again, which is just an absurd notion. The earth has gone through warm periods before, which not only increased the level of water vapour but, as the ice core record shows, the level of CO2 also. Now if there's a positive feedback mechanism in place, how do you figure that the planet ever managed to cool down after such periods?

You've just described the Stefan-Boltzmann Law without actually linking it to this discussion. Great, now people know what's happening when energy is absorbed and re-radiated. What's your point -- you haven't addressed the problem that there is very little available energy for CO2 to absorb in the first place (that 0.6nm band again). And though you've described feedback you've described a NEGATIVE one. And that's setting aside the fact that CO2 is invisible and thus far from a black body.
Always good to go green.. Get less dependent on fossil fuels.. get clean.. its always good.. except for the oil companies..

Well I don't know where you're getting your data from, but mine says that the last decade was the hottest in the last century and the decade before that was the second hottest. It says that last year was about the seventh hottest on record and that it was hotter than any last century.
