Baby Rattle Snake

My friend Janel and I were hiking up to a small waterfall near Pleasant Grove Utah just as this rattle snake was crossing the path. I decided it would be safe enough to pick it up to take some pictures/video of it. I grabbed a branch that would work as a snake stick and finally got it onto the stick (out of the shrub it had climed into.) Janel held the stick while I was taking the video. Then we let it go - safe and sound - heading away from the area where it may cross paths with people again. It was a very pretty snake (as far as nice looking snakes go.)

You know baby rattlers are more dangerous than adults, They don't know how to control the amount of venom

I've known young rattle snakes can't control the venom quantity since I was a young boy scout. I wasn't bit. I also know that when they are stretched out they can hardly strike far in the direction they're facing. Hence, a long stick. I wouldn't have picked it up if I wasn't fairly safe. I took some pictures, shot this short video & then let the snake go on it's way -in a direction away from where it may be discovered by someone more likely to stone it to death (just because it's a snake.)

Very pretty! I also like your attitude towards snakes. To many people hurt/kill snakes of any kind (even the non venomous sort) simply because they are snakes.
