He doesn't die here. He goes back in the tomb while still shot and kills himself while burying Sloane in rubble for eternity. They do have a continuity problem though as Sidney is able to get to Hong Kong and kill Irina before Jack kills Sloane. No matter he is awesome and I hated that he died but it was in character. He wanted Sloane away from his daughter forever.
