Insulin is a hormone produced by the pancreas that regulates the level of glucose, a simple sugar that provides energy, in the blood.

The human body requires a steady amount of glucose throughout the day, and that glucose comes from the foods we eat. Obviously, though, we don't spend our entire day eating a bit of food at a time to maintain a steady stream of glucose. This is where insulin comes into play.

  • it sound's like he says "fuck your doctor" at 02:40

  • @Ouchimoo will in case of hyperinulinemia this is what i found on wikipedia : May lead to hypoglycemia or diabetes Increased risk of PCOS Increased synthesis of VLDL (hypertriglyceridemia) Hypertension (insulin increases sodium retention by the renal tubules) Coronary Artery Disease (increased insulin damages endothelial cells) Increased risk of cardiovascular disease

Weight gain and lethargy (possibly connected to an underactive thyroid)

  • @Smoozable - that's what I kind of figured but couldn't find anything that really verified it. Thanks so much! Going farther, do the cells become damaged with too much of an overload?

  • @Ouchimoo too much glucose will be utilized by the cells leading to hypoglycemia

  • So what happens when too much insulin is present?

  • great!

  • hey im doing a biomedical project and would like to know if you have job in the medical field because i would like to get proper information
